Growing Up Between Two Worlds
You learn early how to switch. One voice for school, another for the house. One name teachers can say, another your aunties use.
For a while it feels like a split. Later you understand it was never a split at all, it was range. Two languages is not half of each. It is two.
The pieces we make are meant for that whole person. Not a costume of Haiti for people who want to perform it, and not a neutral shirt that erases it either.
Something in between, which is exactly where a lot of us actually live.
